Product Care
OVERVIEW
  • Looking after your CHARLES & KEITH products will help you get the most out of them. Avoid contact with water, perfumes, oil-based cosmetics and abrasive agents.

  • After each use, wipe them down with a soft, damp cloth to remove any dust or dirt. Ensure they are completely dry before putting them away.

  • Store your items in a box or dust bag, in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. This will help preserve their shape and integrity.

  • Our products are made from a variety of materials, each requiring special care. You can find detailed information on how to look after each material on the left.

FAUX LEATHER
  • Clean faux leather products with a soft, damp cloth to remove any dust or dirt. Wipe away excess moisture with a dry, clean cloth, or allow them to air-dry overnight before storing.

  • Store your items in a boxy or dust bag, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent premature peeling.

  • Do not dry-clean faux leather products.

DENIM
  • Clean denim products with a soft cloth dampened with a mild solution of water and gentle soap, then lightly wipe down the exterior — avoid applying excessive force, as this may damage the fabric. Gently blot dry with a clean towel, and allow the product to air-dry complete way from direct sunlight to prevent fading.

  • For a deeper clean, soak denim products in a tub of cold water mixed with mild detergent for up to 30 minutes. After rinsing, gently press the bag with a clean, dry towel to absorb as much moisture as possible, then air-dry completely.

  • It is best to wash denim as little as possible to preserve its colour. Only clean when necessary.

  • When not in use, store denim products in a box or dust bag, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

EMBELLISHED
  • Wipe down embellished products with a soft, damp cloth to remove any surface dust or dirt — avoid applying excessive force, as this may loosen the embellishments.

  • For a deeper clean, dampen the cloth with a mild solution of water and gentle soap instead of using plain water.

  • Use a separate dry, clean cloth to remove excess moisture and allow the product to air-dry overnight. Avoid immersing embellished products in water, as moisture can accelerate tarnishing.

  • Store embellished products in a box or dust bag, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

FAUX FUR
  • Spot-clean minor stains on your faux fur products with a soft cloth dampened with a mild solution of water and gentle soap.

  • For a deeper clean, wash by hand in cool water with a mild detergent, or check the care label to determine if the product is machine washable. If it it is, place it in a mesh laundry bag for extra protection and machine wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Do not tumble dry, as heat can damage or melt the synthetic fibres.

  • Gently press the item with a clean, dry towel to absorb as much moisture as possible, then allow it to air-dry completely away from direct sunlight.

  • When not in use, store faux fur products in a box or dust bag to preserve their shape and integrity. Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Fabric
  • Fabrics are delicate material, so clean them gently. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior — avoid applying excessive force, as this may cause damage.

  • Allow fabric products to air-dry completely before storing.

  • When not in use, keep fabric products in a box or dust bag, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Wrap any exposed hardware of less frequently used items to prevent snagging.

Leather
  • Clean genuine leather products with a soft brush or dry microfibre cloth, gently brushing or wiping the surface to remove any superficial dust or dirt.

  • For a deeper clean, dampen a soft, clean cloth with a professional leather cleaner or a mild solution of water and gentle soap, then wipe down the surface. Avoid using hot water, as it can damage the leather.

  • Wipe away any excess moisture with a dry, clean cloth. Allow the product to air-dry overnight before applying a leather conditioner to keep it hydrated and supple. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the leather conditioner carefully.

  • Store your leather product in a box or dust bag, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. As an extra measure, wrap any exposed hardware of less frequently used items before storing to prevent scratches.

Metal
  • Keep metal jewellery away from moisture. Wipe and dry each piece immediately if it comes into contact with water.

  • Avoid wearing jewellery while swimming, exercising or doing heavy work to prevent damage.

  • When removing rings, do not pull them by their gemstones, as this can cause the stones to loosen over time. Instead, slide the entire band off your finger.

  • Store each piece of jewellery separately in soft pouches or compartmentalised boxes to prevent scratching and tangling. Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to slow down tarnishing. If you live in a humid climate, cleaning your jewellery more frequently can help extend its lifespan.

Nylon & Polyester
  • Nylon and polyester products are resistant to water and wear, making them highly durable. Cleaning them once a month helps maintain their appearance by preventing dirt buildup.

  • To clean, dampen a soft cloth with a mild solution of water and gentle soap, then gently wipe down the exterior. Use a separate dry cloth to wipe away excess moisture and allow the product to air-dry overnight before storing them.

  • For a deeper clean, machine wash the item on a gentle, cold cycle using a mild detergent, and always air-dry it away from direct sunlight. However, check the product label first to ensure it is made entirely of nylon or polyester and is machine washable.

  • When not in use, store nylon and polyester products in a box or dust bag, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Satin
  • Satin is a highly delicate material, so preventive care is key. Handle your satin products with clean, dry hands to avoid transferring oils or lotions that may dull their sheen. Keep them away from perfumes and cosmetics, as these can cause stubborn stains.

  • To clean, gently brush satin products with a soft brush to remove any surface dirt. Dampen a soft cloth with a mild solution of water and gentle soap, then lightly dab the exterior — avoid applying excessive force, as this may cause the threads to fray.

  • Use a separate clean, dry cloth to absorb excess moisture. Dab rather than rub to protect the delicate fabric.

  • If your satin product develops dull marks or water stains, you can restore its shine with a mild white vinegar solution. Mix equal parts white vinegar and clean water, dampen a soft cloth with the mixture and gently blot the affected area. Allow the fabric to air-dry completely away from direct sunlight.

  • When not in use, store satin products in a box or dust bag, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Straw & Raffia
  • Wipe down straw and raffia products with a soft, damp cloth to remove any surface dust or dirt — avoid applying excessive force, as this may damage the material.

  • For a deeper clean, dampen the cloth with a mild solution of water and gentle soap instead of using plain water.

  • Use a separate dry, clean cloth to remove excess moisture and allow the product to air-dry overnight. Moisture can weaken straw and raffia fibres, causing them to warp, discolour or develop mould. Consider using a spray-on waterproofing treatment designed for natural fibres, testing it on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure it does not cause discolouration.

  • When not in use, store straw and raffia products in a box or dust bag, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Suede
  • Before you begin cleaning genuine suede products, ensure they are completely dry. Never clean suede products with water, as moisture can damage its porous surface.

  • Use a suede brush to remove surface dirt, brushing gently in the direction of the nap.

  • To treat marks and stains, use a suede eraser and apply light pressure to the affected area. If you do not have a suede eraser, a soft, clean pencil eraser can be used as an alternative.

  • When not in use, store suede products in a box or dust bag, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Velvet
  • Velvet is highly absorbent, so it is important to treat liquid stains immediately. Use a microfibre cloth, or any soft cloth or paper towel, to gently dab and absorb moisture from the affected area.

  • To clean, lightly brush the material with a soft brush to remove any dust or dirt. Dampen a soft cloth with a mild solution of water and gentle soap, then gently wipe down the exterior. Use a separate dry cloth to remove excess moisture and allow the product to air-dry overnight before storing.

  • When not in use, store velvet products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
