What do you love most about Dubai’s fashion scene?

The thing I love most about Dubai’s fashion scene is that you can never too overdressed. There is always an occasion to pull out that sparkly top or put on those beautiful heels. You can also glam up as you would travel mostly by car. In Holland, where I am from, the weather dictates your wardrobe. You cannot wear open toe shoes due to the rain puddles, and short sleeves is out of the question when it's cold or you would freeze and fall sick.

What are some of the emerging trends that you are seeing for 2019?

My favourite trend is the colour yellow! (Or should I say mustard?) I became obsessed with it last year and is excited to finally see it on the runways of Paris and Milan Fashion Week. Also, tonal dressing is huge this season. We would be seeing less prints and more beautiful shapes, materials and silhouettes.

If you could bring back one trend for 2019, what would it be and why?

I would bring back stacked, oversized wooden bangles. They were big between 1995 and 2000 but I feel that they will soon be back on the radar to add that perfect finishing touch to our summer outfits.

What are your thoughts about CHARLES & KEITH’s Ramadan 2019 collection?

What is great about this collection is that there is a silhouette for every style. For example, platform heels for a more glamorous get-up or kitten heels for a more modest look.

If you were to describe this collection in one word, what would it be?

Versatile.

What are your favourite pieces from the Ramadan collection, and how would you style them?

I instantly fell in love with the circle top handle pouch. The design is minimal yet modern, and the irregular shape of the handle is beautiful! The kitten heel slingback mules are also one of my favourites. They go perfectly with a full-white or earth-toned ensemble.

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind how you styled our Ramadan 2019 collection?

When it comes to style, I am at a stage where I am exploring more clean cut accessories and learning how to layer them beautifully. The Ramadan collection allows me to do just that. Although the designs are simple, they look powerful on their own and will add visual punch to any outfit.
