Elizabeth Tan entered the public sphere via her ukulele covers on YouTube, but the quirky songstress has always been musically inclined, having recorded her first children's album at the age of four. She has since explored pop, rock, jazz and even electronic dance music (EDM), all while expressing her sense of style in edgy separates and statement accessories, with her ever perfect smokey eye.

1. Can you introduce or describe more about yourself and share a unique trait that sets you apart from everyone else?
My name is Elizabeth Tan. I’m 23 years old this year, born and raised in KL. A unique trait that sets me apart from everyone else… I suppose for me, most of the time I think I’m a cat. All my friends and family treat me like a cat. I can really relate to cats.

2. Share with us a pet peeve and the time when you developed it.
A pet peeve of mine is when I tell someone something and I need to repeat myself countless times because they are not listening, or when they said something but they are mumbling instead. I also don’t like loud noises, sudden movement and sudden noises. Sometimes even my own shadow scares me.

3. Who are your music influences?
Mainly Yuna, John Mayer, Corinne Bailey Rae, Ray LaMontagne, Bon Iver… There are too many to mention! Definitely Arctic Monkeys as well!

4. What is so distinct about your vocal style?
My vocal style is quite recognisable. When people hear me on the radio, they’d know that it’s Elizabeth Tan. Also, my pitch is a lot deeper than many girls’.

5. If I weren’t a singer I would be a ________?
Oh, I’d still be a student today. I’m only 23 this year, so I might be doing my Masters? I was actually in a Bible College for two years before this and I got into this by chance! I was supposed to resume my Mass Communication studies but that didn’t work out.

6. What is a quote that you live by?
Smooth seas never made a skilled sailor.

7. Can you describe your style?
Anything that is comfortable and in all black. I also prefer to wear body-hugging clothes because my face is quite round.

8. What is a must-have in your wardrobe?
Leather shorts.

9. If you could only pick an outfit to wear for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Leather shorts, sneakers, T-shirt or a tank top.

Sharifah Sakinah was motivated to lose weight as a pre-teen, which eventually evolved into a lifelong dedication to health and fitness. Born in a family of artistes and entertainers, she sets her sights on becoming an actress at an early age and through an incredibly active lifestyle, she strove to develop the body it took for the industry. She's now a full fledged star recognized for her commitment to her craft, most recently in the critically-acclaimed film Pekak. When she’s not acting, she runs her fitness project @fitnessakinah, leading workout sessions throughout the country.

1. Can you introduce yourself and share a unique trait that sets you apart from everyone else?
My name is Sakinah and I am an actress, fitness enthusiast and health junkie. However, I’m not a fitness guru because I do not have prior experience... yet! If you were to compare me with other actresses, I am quite unique, outspoken and loud. It’s not about the look, because I’ve got no looks at all. In terms of personality, I try to be funny but I’m probably not funny. (Laughs)

2. Share with us a pet peeve.
I do have this love-hate relationship with food. I hate food but I love to eat! Sometimes I ask myself, “Can I just look fit without exercising and just eat all the time?”

3. Who is your fitness influence?
Yiota Kouzoukas. She’s a fashion entrepreneur from Australia. She’s not a bodybuilder, but she’s fit and she looks good in any outfit. It’s not just her diet, she takes care of her body healthily as well. As I’m an actress, I can’t strive for a body shape of a bodybuilder because it will look freaky on screen. Therefore, her kind of fitness is what I aspire to achieve.

4. What inspired you to pursue your passion for fitness?
My body. I used to be chubby since I was 12. When I was 14, my sister went to a gym in my neighbourhood in Sungai Long and every morning without fail, we would go to the gym. It has become my lifestyle since then.

5. If I weren’t an actress I would be a ________?
I wanted to be an actress since I was young and if I didn’t, I honestly don’t know what I would be. I think I’d be a hippie in the jungle with no work. I’d be in a holistic place, somewhere in Bali Ubud or something.

6. What is a quote that you live by?
Fitness is not about competition. It’s about how you progress. Your worst enemy and your best friend is your own body. You’re competing with yourself.

7. Can you describe your style?
Boyish and minimalistic, as far as I can. I don’t wear bright colours because I’m already loud. I wear any basic colors, such as black or white. I wear T-shirt and jeans as well. I don’t like to think about what to wear every morning. I’d just tie my hair in a ponytail, wear a plain white T-shirt and I’m ready to go.

8. What is the must have in your wardrobe?
White T-shirt.

9. If you could only pick an outfit to wear for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I’d wear anything in black because black is everything. If you exercised in black, it’s like a funeral for your fats. If you attended any event in black, you will still look elegant.
