How similar are you and your daughter? Share with us how both of you are alike in terms of character and mannerisms.

We are both extremely high energy. We love to dance, act silly, and have a similar sense of humor. We are also sensitive, kind hearted, stubborn and extremely possessive over the ones we love.

Children love showing their creativity in a variety of ways, from their uninhibited confidence to their imaginative play. How do you keep up with your daughter’s imagination?

My daughter personally loves to draw and paint. I always get her colouring books and paint so she can express herself freely. I encourage her to hone her creativity by telling her how beautiful her work is.

How has your daughter inspired your creative processes?

She has inspired me in my designs for my clothing brand. We have now started designing turbans for kids, so that mother and daughter can wear matching styles. We will hopefully start producing matching outfits for mothers and daughters soon.

Juggling your passion and your family is a challenge. How do you do it?

I try my best to split my time between work and my children. Motherhood is a 24/7 job, so whatever time I have in between, will be dedicated to work.

What does the word “creativity” mean to you? And where do you find your inspiration?

Creativity to me is the freedom to be honest and a representation of yourself in many ways, in your own perspective. Creativity is different with everyone and that’s what makes it unique – we all see things, have perceptions on something, opinions, perspectives and voice very differently. I find that creativity can be found anywhere, even in the most mundane situation or thing. Aside from fashion references, I find my inspiration in many other things that catches the mood or my attention in an instant. Architecture, nature, music, movement, textures and even the silhouette of a shadow shapes differently in my mind. Although not everyone would agree or would gravitate the same way, inspiration and creativity will always be unique to the eyes of the beholder.

What are your favourite art forms that you are most well-versed in?

To be honest, I have a few different favourite art forms that I have developed over the years. From drawing to music to photography, it all comes down to the same general art form – styling composition. I can’t be sure if I am excellently well-versed at all, but I have taken the advantage of this simple concept (or, skill) into everything I create and produce. I have always been encouraged by my father to always be appreciative of the arts – styling composition started when I understood the composition of the anatomy in drawing techniques, every string of notes in a soprano’s voice and, the perspective and angle in a photographer’s eye. Being influenced by different forms of art, I gradually progress in how creativity and inspiration is like to me over the years. Without learning different trades of art, I doubt I’ll be inspired to be as driven as I am today.

How do you overcome a creative roadblock?

It’s very simple: stop and relax. Creative roadblocks are humanely normal for just about everyone. The only way to get back on your feet is to stop and give yourself a little breather. I usually rewind back to the things that inspired me in the first place – read, draw, listen to music or even take a stroll. I have taken a liking and habit to watch fashion documentaries like Advanced Fashion or Bill Cunningham: New York, on moments I feel I have dwelled long enough and feel motivated again. The trick about creative roadblocks is that they are self-inducing to the unconscious mind. As we push more of ourselves in times of low, the more we start to build a thicker roadblock over time. Sit back and relax, enjoy it.

From a creative’s point of view, do you think art and fashion work hand in hand?

Fashion has always been inspired by art and culture – without art, fashion can never survive without it. That being said, art is a definitive reference point to fashion. As a creative’s point of view, I believe that all art forms are analogous that holds these different ‘forms’ into balance. Fashion is a lifestyle of art – art in human size form, simply. Although the misconception of high-fashion is heavily cultured by the avant garde or fast-fashion being the centre of demand by the people and commerce, the generalization of fashion will always remain as a point of reference to art - mainly in the form of textures, silhouette and colour.

How has the experience of Motherhood exceeded your expectations? Have you been pleasantly surprised or otherwise by your experience as a mother thus far?

Motherhood is the most difficult job of all. I would never have thought that Emma would have been able to teach me so much, and she’s not even 2.

Children love showing their creativity in a variety of ways, from their uninhibited confidence to their imaginative play. How do you keep up with your daughter’s imagination?

It is not easy keeping up with a child’s imagination. Sometimes I find myself staring at Emma while she’s playing. I just really enjoy watching her discovering the world.

How has your daughter inspired your creative processes?

Emma is the main reason that I became a style blogger and influencer. When Emma was born we moved from London to Amsterdam. I had to start my life from scratch so I thought it was now or never. I couldn’t be happier to have my hobby as my full time job now.

Juggling your passion and your family is a challenge. How do you do it?

It’s a real challenge. I put in the effort to separate work and time spent with Emma. Normally, I work while Emma is at day care and after she’s gone to bed at night. When we are together, she’s number one priority.

After a tumultuous year defined by paradigm shifting turn of events, it seems like a revolution is on its way and we are one foot in the dystopian door.

Unsurprisingly, The Pantone Color Institute named “Greenery” the Color of the Year, citing the need for fresh beginnings with inspirations that point towards our urge to turn the other way and reconnect with Nature. Pantone 15-0343 - yellow-green hued and symbolic of freedom and liberation is a reflection of society burdened by walls that are perpetually bent on dividing us while blurring the lines of integrity and falsehood.

As the inescapable canvas of Nature, neutral and impartial, like the ‘North’ of a compass, Greenery calls to mind an obligation to take a step back for calculated contemplation as we unpick the knots that tie us to a foreseeable, grimy future. It marks our bonded roots with a formidable but forgotten force that is the foliage that we once call home.

As the global climate becomes increasingly complex, choose to see things in colour, and identify the message of positivity and rebirth. Greenery signals one to take a deep breath, to oxygenate and reinvigorate, speaking to our need to experiment and reinvent. Perhaps, as much as we are engineered to be ahead of the curve, now is the time to forgo the endless rat race. Consider the fact that “less is more”, and identify with a higher purpose to find comfort in simplicity, reduction and sameness.

She always had a way with words, and I looked up to her for that. She spoke in a poetic fashion, as she explained “Life is like a prism, what you see depends on how you turn the glass. A prism has the ability to scatter light into a dispersive refraction of colours, in infinite permutations. Just like a prism, one’s perception on life has endless possibilities -- it just depends on how you choose to look at it”.

It was her who provoked a string of thoughts -- Is the grass always greener on the other side? Are what’s right and wrong written in black and white? Is the glass half empty or half full?

Then, I came to realise that the lens we see the world out of is what frames our stories, and that we are not defined by one viewpoint. She urged me to step out of my comfort zone, and open up to different points of view, “Abandon preconceptions about what “should” and “shouldn’t” be, consider the possibilities of multiple realities, reframe your memories, attributes and experiences, and realise that you may be living a different story”.

As I began to gain clarity, she rationalised, “It is all a matter of perspective”.

Discover a night of fashion, inspiration and visual spectacle from creatives showcasing their interpretation of art meets fashion, at the HELLO TAIWAN launch party at Breeze Center, Taiwan.

It was a star-studded night with Vivian Hsu, Ady An, Bianca Bai, Patina Lin, Tia Lee, Christina Mok amongst many other models, personalities and influencers who partied with live music featuring DJ Ray Ray from Omni and celebrity DJ Tom Price on the decks.

At the artisan corner, Angus Chiang and Colasa applied their creative interpretations of the capsule collection. There was also an exquisite selection of edible art, specially handpicked by Chef Andrea Bonaffini.

How did &FINALLY come about?

We met working at a London based fashion magazine, and our jobs involved looking for accessories and style inspiration. It was then that we realised that there weren't any inspiring platforms dedicated to jewellery and accessories. So, we decided to start a fashion and accessories blog, and &FINALLY was born.

Can you tell us about your creative process? How well do you work together?

We both have very different styles but often like the same pieces. With anything creative, it’s great to have two different perspectives. We complement each other’s styles and collaboratively decide on what we want to bring to our audience. Working with our strengths, we work together in an efficient and well-balanced way.

Can you describe your personal style?

We have completely different aesthetics — Florrie leans towards vintage-inspired pieces with a bohemian twist, while Anna is influenced by the 80s and her Italian roots. This means that we can take the same pair of shoes and style them completely differently! It works great for &FINALLY as this brings diversity to the table.

What are some of the challenges you’ve faced?

One of the biggest challenges is considering what ideas and advice to put out to our audience, as we want to be inherently useful to our followers. The industry is constantly changing and ideas, designers and approaches evolve, so our challenge is to stay relevant and stay on top of that.

Where do you find your inspiration?

Though it sounds incredibly obvious, we use Instagram a lot: for styling ideas, to find new brands and people that we want to work with, from photographers to archive imagery, everything we need can be found through one platform.

But we're also keen on travelling and seeing how people dress outside of London: every city has its own thing going on, and we find some more inspiring than others.

Describe an outfit that you would wear on a typical day.

We are busy running around to meetings throughout the day, so we are often dressed quite casually. Throwing on an eye-catching pair of platforms or jewelled slippers immediately makes us look more polished and dressed up, which is exactly what we need when our days are super busy.

What is next for &FINALLY?

Eventually, we'd like to do more offline activity and be able to come together with friends in the industry and our audience to host interactive events that combine inspirational people and our love of shopping. Although we've gained a loyal following so far, we would love &FINALLY to become a global destination for accessory lovers.

Neon lights are contradictory. On one hand, it holds a certain modernity, having made a “come back” of sorts, becoming commonplace in present day contemporary art.

Contemporary art’s love affair with neon often works in combination with poetry or texts, which tend to be lyrical and dreamy, creating an emotional dimension for neon. As romantically described by contemporary artist, Tracey Emin, “Neon belongs to us, to our streets, to the collective imagination; it taps into our complex experience…and our capacity for hope. Neon is emotional for everybody”.

With the ability to create an overall dreamscape aesthetic, the chaotic sprawl of neon is both striking and visually alluring. When it comes to sisters, they say that two is better than one. Jenny and Linda, a pair of sisters living in Seoul and Stockholm respectively, could not agree more. Working collaboratively, they run SeoulSisters, a blog that documents their fashion and travel adventures from all over the world. The sisters are a perfect blend of the East and West, drawing influences from the polarising cities of Seoul and Stockholm.

As a result of their experiences – diversity is key in their personal styles, with a signature of mixing and matching and pairing the unexpected. The jet setting sisters share their journey into fashion, discuss their sisterly bond and the inspirations behind their creative processes.

Describe your typical Saturday afternoon.

Saturday is a day we look forward to, as it is more or less our only free day of the week. We like to meet up for a casual brunch to discuss upcoming projects if we happen to be in the same city. Since most meetings and photoshoots take place on weekdays, Saturday is our day to relax and not have to be in front of a camera or work on deadlines.

You seem to travel a lot, what is your favourite place that you’ve been to?

Yes, we spend our time between Seoul and Stockholm, and also look forward to traveling as it is our favourite thing to do. We can’t stay put in one place for too long and like to be on the go. In terms of holidays, our recent trip to Bali was extremely memorable for us because of its breath taking landscape and incredible culture.

What is it like living in and being based in Stockholm and Seoul? How has it influenced you?

Our experience living in both cities has played a huge role in influencing many facets of our lives, from how we live to what we like to wear. Stockholm and Seoul are two very different cities, but both have been incredibly inspiring for us. We have also played a part in shaping the fashion industries in both cities, having introduced Korean brands in Stockholm and vice versa.

Being in the creative industry, where do you find your inspiration?

We find our inspiration from the streets and the people around us. Fashion week is where we get a lot of our inspiration. More often than not, a trend will catch our eye and we reinterpret it in our own way. We do also inspire each other a lot with what Jenny takes in from Seoul and what Linda takes in from Stockholm. It makes our style a lot like us - a mix of two cities and cultures.

As sisters, do you find it easy to collaborate on projects? Tell us about your creative process.

Yes, we do have a special sisterly bond, agreeing on most things and focusing on the same details. We work well together, usually with Linda conceptualising ideas, while Jenny focuses on project planning.

Share with us your goals for the future?

We have plans to elevate our blog to make content more relatable and interactive for our followers. We have taken steps towards that by creating video content and sharing more of our personal stories. The overall goal for this year is to increase our follower base.

Joy Yun is a Korean blogger who is currently residing in New York, pursuing a degree in graphic design at the Parsons School of Design. It’s easy to spot Joy Yun from a mile away, with her signature frizzy hair and relaxed, menswear influenced style.

While her style does vary from season to season, she tends to choose more minimal and masculine looks, sticking to a monochromatic palette of mainly black and white. It is not surprising that she cites Annie Hall as her style inspiration, often spotted in casual blazers and relaxed trousers.

She shares that she likes taking long walks around the city, as it is “the best way to get to know New York”. Her trusty CHARLES & KEITH flats are comfortable, allowing her to walk for hours and taking her everywhere.

Joy Yun enjoys taking film pictures, and says that the New York City skyline provides the perfect backdrop, with its iconic architecture. Her CHARLES & KEITH shoulder bag is light and spacious enough for Joy Yun to carry her camera and items for school around the city.

AZTEC RAYS OF INSPIRATION

Born in South Africa, Fashion Editor of InStyle UK – Robyn Kotze moved to London at the age of 13. Having did art and art history in her younger years, she always knew she wanted to work in the fashion industry and decided to pursue her passion there. With London having a strong influence in her choice of style, pages and editorial work, she explains that the London style is like no other. While it’s key to have the easy yet slightly undone look, London is best at mixing the new and exciting with the already elevated and sophisticated. Robyn further shares with us more about her personal style, her budding years in fashion and her take on grommets as an upcoming trend.

Tell us about your path into Fashion.

I did my art foundation at Chelsea College of Art and Design, then chose to do my BA at London College of Fashion but had interned throughout university as I knew how extremely important the actual experience was. There are a million and one girls out there wanting the same job, so experience and specific knowledge is key.

Going back to your early years, was creativity and fashion a part of your childhood?

My family is in the luxury jewellery business, so attention to detail has always been crucial from the sale itself to the final packaging. I'm the first within the family to be in fashion but hopefully not the last. I love what I do and I love fashion within London, but normally the creativity forms outside the city – by the sea or in the country. Which is probably influenced by my childhood in South Africa.

What inspires your sense of style?

I love older fashion imagery and anything that represents sophisticated comfort. My styling work is normally trend related yet mixed with classical and interesting cut pieces. I never like my style to look thought out, everything must be relaxed and of comfort. Both my work and style need to be effortless and of ease.

How has Natalie Hartley helped be a mentor to you?

Natalie has a very strong work ethic and taught me that going the extra mile not only pays off but will get you noticed for the right reasons. A combination of hard work, determination and having a good eye is key for working with someone like Natalie.

What do you think about the current grommets trend?

This is a great trend, it’s soon becoming the new stud! I love it as a trim or as a detail. It's still an embellishment, so I'd be careful on how much you wear. I personally would either opt for a grommet bag or shoe to not overload the full look.

How would you advice to style grommets?

If your grommets are on accessories, I'd style pinstripe wide leg trousers or a pair of navy mom jeans with a great oversized jumper and blanket scarf. This allows the grommet detail to not only lift the entire look, but keep it effortless at the same time.

Music artist, model and stylist, Storm Calysta shares with us her inspiration and personal flair in fashion.

Born and raised in Chicago Illinois, Storm began her career in music before stepping ground into the fashion industry. It was at the young age of 8 where she was inspired to write her own melodies and lyrics.

When asked who her muse is, Storm mentions that she gathers her inspiration from artists such as Cher, Mick Jagger and Stevie Nicks.

She also has an extensive experience in fashion. Having worked with Rachel Zoe and American Apparel, she was featured on websites such as Vogue and NYLON.

Being fearless with fashion, Storm is exquisitely drawn to luxurious fabrics such as velvet, leather, and suede.

When it comes to shoots, she brings her adventurous spirit to locations of differing vibes - but all of which are places she enjoys and her favourite sites in town.

Nicole Pagan is a native of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. A photographer, director and stylist, she now has more than 6 years of experience in photography and directing under her belt.

She has shot for KALTBLUT Magazine, Germany’s leading indie print and online magazine for Art, Australian label Nice Martin and Stancesocks. Nicole is also the founder of the movement #GIRLBYAGIRL, a platform for all female artists from all over the world and has her own group of talent which she taps on for all her campaigns.

Shot in one of her favourite places, the desert is a place where Nicole goes to unwind and immerse in nature.

When asked on the one thing that she would not be able to live without, the passionate photographer unhesitatingly answers, "definitely my camera".

"Photography has taught me passion, love and patience. It has made me the woman I am today."
