Hailing from Beirut, Zeinab Ali Hammoud is a fashion blogger and advocate of modest fashion. Inspiring women around her, she strives to convey the message that beauty can lie in modesty too. Taking the road less travelled, Zeinab embarks on a journey around her hometown of Beirut, sharing snapshots of areas that are personal to her. Discover Beirut through her eyes, as she takes a destination-less meander that is focused on the journey rather than the point of arrival.

What made you decide to start a fashion Instagram account?

I have always had an interest in fashion in every sense, from styling clothes to trying out new trends. I use Instagram as my outlet to experiment with modest fashion. I started posting my daily outfits and personal style, hoping to inspire women, and convey the message that beauty can lie in modesty too.

How have you grown and developed since the start of your fashion journey?

It has not been long since the start of my fashion journey, but I am completely overwhelmed with the outpouring of kindness and support from people who have been on this journey with me. I have grown to understand that not everyone is going to love what I post, and that it is okay. I have also found joy in letting new people into my life and strive to make a positive impact.

Tell us about some of the places photographed. How are they personal to you?

Beirut, my city -- it is a thousand different places and things at once. It is a blend of beauty, history, and modern vibes.

The street of Mar Mikhael is so vibrant, famous for nightlife, cafés, and restaurants. Each time I drop by, I discover new places, and it just never gets old. I am no expert in architecture, but these old Lebanese buildings are magical.

Do you believe in the saying “The journey is more important than the destination?”

Definitely, life itself is a journey. It’s nice to have an end goal to journey toward, but it’s the journey that matters most. There is so much life to be lived in the ‘in-between’.

Pick one: the conventional route or the road less travelled?

The road less travelled. I am not a woman who follows the crowd, as it is not in my nature. I believe that you cannot influence the world by being just like it.

What is the next journey that you would like to embark on?

Professionally speaking, I am looking forward to attaining an MBA, and hopefully pursuing a career in the fashion industry. On a personal level, travelling the world and discovering new places is something I would like to do all my life.
