What made you decide to start a fashion Instagram account?

It all really started once I was featured in the H&M campaign.

How have you grown and developed since the start of your fashion journey?

I've seen the development in my style. I've always been into following trends and styling myself how I like but I feel I still dressed a little safe and didn't experiment too much with different styles. Now, as a model, I am a far more confident dresser and try styles I wouldn't necessarily have thought would look good on me!

Tell us about some of the places you photographed. How are they personal to you?

A lot of my photo shoots have been with brands, so I had little say in where they would take place! However, I love travelling and wherever I go, I like to try and take shots around places that have a historical context. For instance, I was in Senegal last year and went to Goree Island, which was incredible because of its historic value.

Do you believe in the saying "The journey is more important than the destination?" Why?

I certainly do! I'm very driven and focus a lot of attention on the future, so I constantly have to remind myself to simply enjoy the journey. Once I reach the destination, the adrenalin fizzles out and I would never want to regret not making the most of the time I had on the way there.

Pick one - the conventional route or the road less travelled? Why?

I think my actions have shown that I naturally go for the road less travelled. As the first hijab-wearing model, I had to pave my own road and not compromise any of my values to the conventional standards in modelling. I believe it's important to always be authentic and if that means paving your own way, then so be it!

What is the next journey that you would like to embark on?

I studied English Literature in university because I wanted to pursue a career in film and TV, which is something I'm still very much interested in pursuing. That is definitely the next journey that I’m looking into, career wise.
