General
Thank you for choosing Charles & Keith. Charles & Keith uses only top quality materials to produce our merchandise. Slight marks and colour variations should not be considered as a fault, but inherent characteristics of the product. However, to preserve products and keep them looking their finest, we encourage shoppers to adopt the following care tips to prolong the lifespan of Charles & Keith products.
Shoe Care Instructions
Please note that while there are many cleaning products available in the market, we recommend that you use only the appropriate cleaning agent specially designed for the material. Do note that while this list is not comprehensive, sending it to a professional cleaner specializing in the care of the said material will ensure that you would be able to enjoy our products for many years to come.
Do take extra care with shoes that are embellished with crystals, beads or other types of decorative items. Improper handling may result in loss, damage or dislocation of the decorative items. Never place your wet shoes to dry near artificial heat or directly under immense heat as these may cause the colour to fade. It is best to leave them out to dry naturally or the soles could wear off easily. Have heel caps (top pieces on heels) replaced by a good shoe repairman before they wear down, so that heels will not get damaged.
Bags And Accessories Care Instructions
Although often made of the same materials as shoes, products such as handbags, personal accessories and belts require minimum care, because they do not take the kind of beating shoes do. Dirt can usually be wiped off with a clean, slightly moist cloth and allowed to air dry completely. Saddle soap is not recommended, as it may remove the natural oils. New suede is subject to "crocking", which means that suede dust may rub off on hands and clothes. Crocking can be minimized by rubbing any new suede bag or accessory vigorously with a terry towel. Avoid storing suede bags in plastic bags and opt instead for dust bags/ cotton bags so that the material can breathe.
Handbags and items made of synthetic material can be cleaned by wiping with a slightly damp cloth soaked in mild soap and water and drying off with a clean cotton cloth. Spot removers can help to pick up surface dirt. Store items in a cool and dry place and avoid placing the items under direct sunlight as this may cause the colour to fade or the material to crack.
New fabric handbags or personal accessories can be treated with a spray-on stain repellent. This also acts as a conditioner for the material and helps to promote its lifespan.
When storing your accessories, they should not be allowed to come into contact with one another, as some finishes may stick together. The best wrap for all kinds of accessories is tissue paper, not plastic bags. Avoid storing in extremes of heat, humidity, dryness or cold. If repairs are necessary, have them done by a professional to avoid further damage to the accessories.
